That's what I think...although in a later post, OP stated the friend is still there and he was the only one evicted...which is what made me question if all the info was being given. Find it hard to believe the cops would show up on a moment's notice with the LL and only evict ONE of the tenants?

driftingalonginnh, it doesn't sound like you were evicted - that word has legal meaning, and based on what you've written, you did not go through an eviction.

What happened is your roommate got mad and threw you out - and the police refused to "help you" because it's a civil matter.

Is it worth filing in small claims court? Only you can decide that. Generally with a week-to-week agreement, either side can give a week's notice, and terminate the agreement. So even if your roommate had followed the rules, you still would have been out of the house in a week.

I agree. Although the OP states that the police came and watched him collect his stuff. That doesn't usually happen without some sort of cause...and the OP had obviously been there a while, to have "stuff" to remove. If the OP had legal right to be there, even one receipt showing it, I have difficulty believing the police would have thrown him out.
