Are there any apartments with over 7 bedrooms for a unit? Something like a duplex or maisonette, but it's located within a normal multi-story apartment building (not a house on the ground). Is there a name for apartments like these? Thanks.

I think that is called a mansion. I have never heard of a 7 bedroom apartment.

I'm sure there are some penthouse apartments out there with 7+ bedrooms.

There are several high rises in Big cities that offer large, 3000+ sq feet, multi bed and bath units. Most are privately owned condos rented out. I would say at an average of 15k-30k a month.

If you need 7 bedrooms, you would probably be looking for a house instead of an apartment.

People who need that much space in a place where apartments or condos are the only option (like Manhattan) will buy 2-3 units and put doors in between them in order to get that much space.

The 3,000 sq ft condos are generally not 7 bedrooms. They are much more likely to be 2-3 bedrooms with a huge living room/entertainment area.

I think the OP was looking for the "proper" name for the type of apartment described.

Similar to when someone says townhouse or duplex... most folks can visualize what is being talked about. Is there a certain name for a largish (many bedroomed) apartment within a larger apartment building?

Not really a special name. If you google luxury apartments in Manhatten you'll find several listings for 3000+, 6+ bedroom apartments for rent and sale. Some are called condos, some are called co ops.
