Borrow the money from someone if you can, sell some possessions or get a 2nd job. Pay him every penny you owe him BEFORE he drags you to court.
If you try to claim you don't owe him, no judge will believe you since you were living in the apartment and got evicted. This guy didn't pay your missed rent because he felt like throwing money away.

You should also think long and hard about how to honor your obligations in the future - living life with bad credit is very expensive and stressful.

I'm part of the Y generation and understand these things perfectly.
do the right thing, pay back your debts, but as far as drug and alcohol laws go, y generation's goal should be to reverse these old fashioned laws and give people the personal freedom to do as they please when it comes to 'victimless' crimes... but that's a discussion for another thread.
With freedom comes responsibility. Do the right thing. Only the rich are above the law.
