Years ago, we had a "carpet inspector" come to our house. We were trying to claim the warranty on the carpet we had recently installed that had worn in 6 months. Supposed to be a "high traffic" carpet, was a POS.
My point is that the man who came from Mohawk told us the same thing - don't go barefoot on your carpet due to the oils (he even mentioned sweat) on your feet.
He said the best thing to do was to take outside shoes off immediately and put on a pair of socks or designated house shoes.
and this info was given to you when you bought the carpet and was in writing? I've only bought new carpet twice in my life and I was never told this nor was it in writing.

Most consumers don't read warranties. Did you know that roller chairs(the ones with casters) void the warranty on almost all floor coverings? I have seen them ruin carpet, vinyl, laminate, engineered and solid wood floors. They can even scratch ceramic.
and did the warranty say "no barefeet"? I remember skimming mine, I would've questioned a statement like that.
Kinda like the Hoover guy telling me that I overused my vacuum by using it in a daily basis. No, it was a piece of crap that died in under a year and they didn't want to replace it.
I asked him to show me where in the users manual does it say "do not use on a daily basis". he couldn't. I got my replacement, sold it and bought a Dyson.
we are renting and take very good care of our place. BUT if I owned this house, then I would take even better care of it because then I would be the one to pay for things when they break. But we do take very good care of this home just because we don't want to be charged for anything when we do move out someday

I've had a Dyson for years and have never had any of the Dyson-destroying-the-carpet issues.
But if you do, you have voided the warranty.
