I had one like that one time...
in place for over two years and steady as a rock except for the filth.
I hedged my bet and sent them a $100 "Merry Maids" coupon for Christmas.
why in the world would you think it would be ok to charge the tenant for a used stove? It was used - who knows what was wrong with it
When I say used, it was used like 3 times. It was in excellent condition. I bought it from wealthy people who just decided to get a fancier stove. Nothing was wrong with it.
So, when tenants damage property, the LL is expected to pay for it and not be reimbursed??? I think not.
My trash sometimes sinks if I've been cooking fish or something else stinky. I don't think I should be evicted because I take the trash out less often then you think I should.
Who ever said I was evicting them because they don't know how to clean? After the 1 year is up, I'm not renewing it simply because I'm selling the property, that's all.

How do you know it was damaged?
You said the burners stopped working...do you mean the heating elements were dysfunctional? How can a tenant break a heating element on a burner?
Maybe that's why the wealthy people wanted to get rid of it? A good stove is at least $1000- it should be no surprise that a used, $200 stove has issues. Even new stoves can have issues within months of purchase- that's why new ones come with a manufacturer's warranty.
Not to mention that cooking facilities are a habitability issue- wouldn't even go there.
Those shower photos were frightening both before and after.

Does your lease say that they are responsible for the appliances? I doubt it since you rented the unit with the stove, it's yours to maintain.
Used three times and is less than a yr old? Used three times and is 5 yrs old? Huge difference. And unless you personally only saw that stove turned on and used three times, you have no idea how 'used' or 'unused' it is.
I think you need to get out of the landlord business.
