Hello, this thread is from 2007 and I'm the apt you're asking about is rented. Please do NOT bring up such old threads like this.

If you're looking for a rental go to the state forums and ask there.

Cheap rent is directly proportional to dead city/small towns (no running factories ,downtown stores are gone because of economy) and have old (early 1900s) houses . Furthermore places with lowest wage around $7/hr.

Yeah, I actually moved from NY to Nebraska because I was looking for an affordable apartment that provides the kind of privacy one should have at home. My last apartment was in a basement in Long Island and literally everything I said/do in my apartment became public knowledge to Coworkers, My boss, very evil members of churches I attended, and everyone else in NY!! It is true that you cannot beat the apartments prices in Nebraska. I currently live in an almost 900 square feet apartment and I only pay $623 a month, this would have been like $2,000 or more in NY. However, I have to tell you there are no good jobs in Nebraska and the crappy jobs that you do get, you have to almost lose your soul, dignity, and standards to have those jobs. I have never met a group of more psychotic, obnoxious, insensitive, loud, and moronic people like the ones that live in Nebraska/Iowa. The people's sense of humor include calling people ugly or using the word in the most inappropriate way, or repeating the same thing over and over again in an attempt to be funny that almost make you lose your mind or kill yourself LOL. I have never met a group of adults that think it is okay to do obnoxious things that irritates you to almost the point of losing your mind or feeling suicidal. Some of the company's culture is very similar to a third world country. If I get a nice paying job in NYC or another big city in the east coast, i will move back in a heartbeat! I rather pay the high price for an apartment than pay the price of losing everything I value as a human being. There is a definitely a price to pay for those cheap apartments if you have to deal with unintelligent idiots 24/7 and be extensively tortured while underpaid in most of the companies they have in those crappy small towns. They are just not small towns; they are also small minded people. It is COMPLETE TORTURE dealing with these types of people!! But if you are looking for a cheap apartment, Iowa or Nebraska is definitely the place to be. But be Warned, you may lose your mind to Stupidity!
