Hello all,

We are giving our landlords our 30 day notice when we pay out rent for the month. But we plan on moving out within the following week, have time to go back to the house and clean and have to make a few small repairs as well.

We are willing to continue to have the utilities in our name until the end of the 30 day time period, and obviously keep the keys so we can go back and forth and make sure nothing fishy is going on. Landlords live right by the house also.

Should there be any problem?

We have no problem after we are out and done cleaning if they want to go in and start getting ready for the next tenants. I think this works out for everyone involved, and they can get their stuff done and keep their income losses down.

You have a lease and it's coming to an end?
Does it describe any notification requirement to either renew or not?

OK... but until your dirt is gone too... you aren't really out of there.
iow rent and utilities are still due.

and they have walked through with you saying "good job, kids... here's your SD money"

Do you see any conflicts?

The one I see is a tenant trying to tell a LL what will be. That rarely works out well.
Try talking to the LL first, reading through the lease, learning what is expected of you and then doing that.

As long as your rent is paid for the last month there will be no problem at all. Once you have everything moved out and cleaned up you can ask your LL to do a walk-through with you to make sure everything is in order so that you can expect a return of your full security deposit within the time frame determined by your state landlord tenant laws. Plus if there's anything which needs fixing which you've missed, you'll have a chance to remedy it.

All the best in your new place!
