Professional extermination works for a short while but if you have ants you're going to have to deal with stray and transient ants on your own dime because they're not going to just go away. They just aren't a big deal to most of us who deal with ants (and cockroaches and mosquitoes and various other creepy crawlies) in climates where they just happen to be and live.

I hope the building management spRays rather than spays. Our local vets now do early spay/neuter on very young kittens and puppies but I don't think the science has yet segued to spaying female mini-ants.

Jen, with all due respect, I think you're being overly anal about this and I can't imagine that you could have lived anywhere where some creature or critter wasn't an issue to be dealt with. Also think about having put out ant traps when you saw ONE TINY ANT. Your traps contained bait which attracted more ants. Thought about that "DOH"?

Well, glad to report that (KNOCK WOOD) I have seen less. The Super of the building sent an exterminator to the apartment yesterday to put more gel down which I have noticed seems to be helping.

Still seeing a random one here and there, and I'm sure this won't be the last I see of them. Keep seeing them in the bathtub of all places. It seems every morning I wake up to one of these guys in the tub.

Looks like it might just be something i have to deal with while living here. Landlord is upset because she says that she never had an issue while living there. Don't know whether I believe her or not, but that is neither here nor there. She said that if it should not get resolved, I could break the lease and leave and she would return my security. I told her that was fine, and that I would probably wait until the summer to do so--my boyfriend has been wanting to move closer to his job anyway.

eh...dont' fret over a few ants!! It can take a few applications of the gel to rid of them and if your neighbors have them and aren't asking for treatment, you're just swimming upstream. You might want to talk to your neighbors and ask them if they've had issues and encourage them to get treatment as well.

Ants really dont' bother me, roaches (small German roaches that love filth) on the other hand are filthy, vile creatures and gross me out!!

LOL I agree that it could be worse Kim...or God Forbid BEDBUGS!

Either way, I am going to just stick it out here and see what happens. We probably will end up moving yet again, because my boyfriend wants to be closer to his work.
