Hello everyone, i live in Michigan, and bought a house and moved to new home on Feb 16th, my lease with apartment was expiring on April 30th, the management informed me that your apartment has been re-rented from March 15th, and you don't need to worry about the lease now, and asked for the keys for the renovation, so i surrendered the keys on Feb 28, now i received a letter from apartment management that the new ranter has postponed the moving date and now they will move after April 15th, and i have to pay the rent for the end of the lease which is like $2500. I feel like pissed off now, not sure what should i do now. When i was moving in, they said you cannot change my moving date and have to move on the date we have given. but in this case they are allowing the tenet to postponed the date, by thinking i am there to pay the rent.

Please suggest what should i do now..

Do you have proof in writing? If so, you should be fine. If not, you are in trouble. They could probably ask for you to pay prorated rent up until March 15th, but they certainly can't ask for rent after that if they're told you, in writing, that you aren't responsible for rent after that date.

And that means you are done... when paid through 3/15.

You gave notice, made arrangements and got a constructive response from Mgmt.
What else my happen between THEM and some other 3rd party is none of your concern.

the lease says, you will have to pay $250 for early termination, and apartment management will find the new renter, but until then you need to pay the rent.

One or the other... NOT both.
They can't have their cake and then eat it too.
