I unfortunately am stuck in a lease for subsidized apartments, unknowingly until after their fact none the less does anyone know if I have to comply with the government installing water devices on my unit ( I pay for my own water ) and do I have to comply with their government inspections/ Like I said I pay full rent and am not subsidized. If anyone know it would be appreciated. I called the Texas tenant rights and they said no I do not have to but should put everything in writing. Not that is anything wrong with this type of housing it is just not what we wanted. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.

They are these devises that they put on your sink to allow just a little bit of water to come out of the faucet and shower. Takes forever to wash dishes, as I like to wash by hand. Bill is still the same, go figure.

Are you in an area with severe water restrictions because of drought?

The building itself? No. The type of tenant it attracts? Yes.

OP:Read your lease and follow the 'early termination' clause.....it will tell you what you need to do to 'break your lease'. No one is forcing you to stay here and you break your lease and move.

As for the 'water devices'...yes, you have to allow them to install them.

Interesting...I installed low flow faucets and shower heads and my bill dropped, but the water pressure did not. If you're having issue with water pressure, call the office and tell them.

You're living in a complex where (not unusually) some of the units are set aside for government-subsidized tenants. The LL is within his legal rights to install "water devices" and I very much doubt that it's the government doing this work or having anything to do with it.

No, you are not in a subsidized program so your unit won't be inspected by HUD inspectors. However, your LL is within his rights to inspect your unit at reasonable intervals and as long as he gives you the notice required under your state landlord tenant laws (usually 24 hours minimum).

Agree. Installing low-flow water-saving plumbing (including toilet fixtures) in no way reduces the pressure.

How so? Is there something about housing subsidies that causes or attracts bad people? Should we rethink subsidies?
