The lease to my apartment expires July 2, and my landlord gave me the prorated rent amount for July as being two full days. So, let's say it's 1000/month, they're asking for (1000/31)*2 for my July rent.
Makes sense so far. But I received a move-out checklist, and if I'm not out of the apartment and have the keys turned in by 10am on July 2, there's a $250 penalty. I realize it's not a lot of money, but is it fair or legal to charge me for the entire day of July 2 if I'm required to be out by 10am on that day?
I couldn't find anything about this and would appreciate any input. Again, it's not much money to get upset over, but since they were so aggressive about the 10am thing, it kinda pissed me off!
