I'm moving out and the apartment manager said she will try to give notice when showing the apartment but "sometimes people just show up".
I read the lease and the only thing that talks about anything related to entering the apartment is this...
Owners right to access- Owner shall have the right of free access to the premises at all times for the purpose of inspection; to make repairs or improvements; to supply necessary or agreed services; or to exhibit premises to the prospective or actual purchases, mortgagees, workmen or contractors, or any other person having legitimate interest therein, as provided by law.
The only part of this that may cover "showing place to potential tenants" in my opinion is the last part. "Person having legitimate interest therein" but, it says as provided by law.
I looked up the law (RCW 59.18.150) and it says they need at least a 24 hour notice in WA state.
So based on this, she cannot just show up at 5PM one day as I'm eating dinner and show the apartment to someone, right?
Keep in mind, this apartment manager is new to managing (small community here) and has not gone through this process many times.
What do you all think? I'm not trying to be difficult but I honestly don't want her or any potential renters coming over as I'm in the middle of cooking, bumping uglies, or what not... To only have a notice of 5-10 minutes to me is not cool and I think it violates the lease and law based on the above...
Although I'm hoping someone can help me clarify this. Thanks!
