Do you consider subsidized housing as "living in the projects"? (rental property, house)

I'd bet anything that that complex is in the ghetto. We have several, not sec 8, non govt owned, non subsidized complexes that are just like the one you described and they are all located in the ghetto. Their rent isn't bottom of the barrel either..it's average for this area.
Where do non-Sec 8 burger flippers live in your area? Do they rent rooms from drunks too?
The ghetto has hospitals, schools and churches. It's not the buildings that make the area a ghetto, its the residents.
Ya think maybe landlords also have something to do with that?
When landlords accept subsidized baby mamas with gangbangers in tow, and reject crime/drug-free burger flippers for insufficient income, SOMEBODY is enabling the making of a ghetto.

I don't know. I don't know any burger flippers. I'm going to assume they live where they can afford the rent. Probably in the lower income areas of town. If they want to live in the nicer areas, then yes, they would have roommates, or rent a room.
As for renting from drunks, you've cornered the market on that..there's only room for one 'special' tenant.

And somebody is bitter because a gangbanger has a better 'home' than he does. If you want a better place to live, get a job. I don't know why that concept is so foreign to you.
Landlords aren't to blame for the creation of the ghetto/hood...the residents are. They are no different than you...low income, full of excuses, waiting for a handout. Nothing in this life is free...you want better for yourself? Work for it. Stop blaming others for the choice you've made.
I know quite a few professionals that grew up in our local ghetto and they were able to get out. They were smart; they got jobs at 16, graduated high school, went to college and made something of themselves. All without having/being a baby mama, gangbangers or druggie.
It's not the neighborhood that makes the person, it's the person that makes the neighborhood.
Well these Residents are Well to do! No Set 8 they still made it a Place no one wants to live in!
What is your definition of 'well to do' and what makes you think they are 'well to do'?
As I already said, there are plenty of bad non sec 8 complexes out there. Accepting sec 8 is a pain in the ass for many landlords, it's doable with one or two units, but when you have 500 or more...forget it.
it's all about the residents. If it's a lower rent complex, non subsidized, you're going to attract low income families, baby mommas with their dramas, and lots of issues. The only low income housing I've ever seen that didn't have issues like these was senior housing.

When built it was suppose to be for Hospital workers AKA Drs & Nurses they were trying to get to move here. I knew a lot of Drs that lived there & Nurses. Back then. I know a lot that stayed & purchased homes. 2/2 cost $600 per month then as said has Pool Hot tub Gym Apts are Huge! & they are the 1st to allow pets 2 ..small weight limit. They have a Huge enclose dog area... better than our new dog park! Now the rent $1000 per month they don't except Sec 8. Never have Yet several times a year they have shooting in the parking lots!
Apt Complexes here are ONLY required IF they go Sec 8 to Rent 10% of their apts To Sec 8 which in my Complex means 6 apts out of 60 are Sec 8. 1 --2 bed room & 5 -- 1 bed room. We don't have all the bells but I love the location. The apts are in the County backed by Woods We have Deer Foxes other wild life! But go out my apt out of the complex Shopping! I can go any where I want on my Mobility Scooter I KNOW that I could get the same in Flordia for 1/2 what the rent is here... heck in Flordia I could Pay my rent without Sec 8 ... BUT with LL wanting 3x income for rent not sure how to do it. My gf moved to Florda a couple yrs ago lived with her son $500,000 home BUT do to DiL problems she found Excatly what I got here for $300 per month!! Course her SSD it $1200 so she meet the income. [mines is $750]
The Projects as folks on here call them Has NEVER had a Shooting in their entire history. They are 100% kept up! I love to be able to move back to them! The Draw back in they have Very Few H/C assible apts 10 yra ago they Chopped up several apts in each units & made more H/C apt But they were Weird. Our apt was Kitchen Tiny was turned into the Living room... couldn't get any decent furniture in ti. Org Living room became a HUGE Kitchen!! the 1 bedroom was the org 12x12 the other was 1/2 that 6x12! Once my Twin bed when it & a stand for TV that was it! Closets were Tiny! The Biggest Nightmare is some one in the same unit would Block the sewer! & the H/C shower would get Raw sewage back into it & since it was low for w/c the sewage ran ALL over the apt! Last time [for me] is it also backed up into the Kitchen Sink!! After that they moved me into the Sr housing & my son into his own 1 bedroom apt! We loved it there but I couldn't afford the pay rent on Both apts when his health failed! so 2 yrs later 18 months waiting on Sec 8 we moved into this complex. I swear I am NEVER again going to rent a H/C apt! But I do need a downstairs apt on 1 level that I can get my scooter in/out
They did find out after we moved the apts plumbing was messed up & they re-did it. Also found the person blocking the plumbing [was using paper towels instead of athroom tissue!] They got evicted!

I'm sorry but 1k rent isn't a indicator of 'well to do'. But it's nice that they built the housing for drs and nurses, too bad the idea failed and the complex went down the hill.
Rentals in my area of Florida are not that cheap. A 2/2 unit in a nice, clean, decent area with all amenities is going to run roughly $1300. You can find cheaper, but you won't want to live there. What part of Florida is your friend?

um, wait...why doesn't baby mama get a job and why doesn't johnny get one too? I have a job, it just pays crap.
