I live in Hartford, CT in a small two bedroom. I pay $975/month. When our lease is up we'll be looking for something bigger.

Rented a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house in Sharon, PA for $400, plus utilities. It was a beautiful old home too.

Wow...I feel like i'm living in the wrong part of the country.

Since you live in an old home, do you spend a lot on heat? We once rented in an older 2-family. We had to put plastic on the windows during the winter time.

Where do you rent? $1850 for a 1-BR in Chelsea with all utilities and amenities included? If that is not a share, you have got to tell me where you are staying, that is insanely cheap!

I am renting a ~450 sq ft studio in Park Slope, Brooklyn for $1550/mo which includes heat, hot water, and laundry in the building (big deal, trust me). Prime block in Park Slope Historic District.

Before moving to NYC, I stayed 1 year in Burlington VT where I rented a 1-BR apartment for $800/mo and 1 year in Poughkeepsie NY where I rented a 1-BR for $950/mo. Obviously there's some sticker shock in coming to NYC, but I realized that all the money saved from car-related expenses made my overall monthly cash flow relatively the same even if I am paying much more in rent.

Don't live there any longer, but we too put plastic on the windows in the winter time. Though at the time the gas bill wasn't as insane as it is now.

$740 month 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment near Olympia, WA. New building but cheaply built. You can hear people upstairs tip toeing around.
