I'm renting in north carolina , about 6 month through a 24-month lease with a private landlord. Recently, I was informed that a property management company would be taking over management of the property, while the landlord retained ownership. it was a phone call i find out.
my question is if they come with a new lease agreement and i disapprove and i wont sign will i be breaking the old agreement or will the landlord be breaking the old agreement by ask me to sign a new one with the property management company?

You don't sign anything till current lease ends. They just letting you know so any problems can be addressed. & Should have let you know where to send the rent check, etc. IF any rules change the PM will notify you. Any thing drastic like say No Pets & you have a pet when you moved it Cant be enforced till your current lease ends. They just letting you know there are changes.

As Katie said they can't just stop the old lease. They must abide by that lease. Once the lease changes terms to month to month they can (after giving proper notice) ask to get a new lease with new terms. They cannot change terms or conditions mid lease
thank you ,( electrician4you and katie1) for the help.
