No, not at all. I'm not sure how you got that impression? I'm trying to sue the guy, not give him a pay day. I just wanted to find out if what he is claiming is true. He seemed to be using it as some kind of threat to try to prevent me from suing him so I guess I just wanted to find if he legally could do that. I have no intention of paying him, just wanted to get clarification to refute his arguments.
If you didn't sign a lease with anyone involved and your name isn't attached to the unit in any way, shape or form; how can he come after you for unpaid bills? That makes no sense at all.
Tell him to either pound sand or sue you, but you need to make sure your name isn't attached to that unit in any way.
I gave a small one to the tenants in case the landlord asked for more of a security deposit from them.
