How much money do you have in your savings and retirement account, kids' college savings and all that? If you have a tidy sum saved up, it's possible that all you need is to show your bank statement and investment account statement from the country you're from. But it would have to be a very solid amount. It looks like you have enough to prepay for several months, anyway.

I'd rent to you:
1. If you have a cosigner who can pay the rent
or
2. You pay the annual rent in advance for a 1 YR lease

not me , i don't want the headaches of anyone living hand to mouth . it is bad enough even the best tenants end up in divorce-illness or job loss and their problem becomes your problem .

You did not mention where you are moving, but you might look for a private rental of a house, rather than in an apartment building. Credit checks may not be required if the landlord likes you, and a private landlord would probably be happy to have a few months in advance rent. You should avoid the large property or apartment rental companies with bureaucratic rules.
