Is it more difficult to find someone willing to rent a room or basement out to a couple? Does anybody have any recommendations on how my wife and I should search for this type of arrangement? We wouldn't mind paying a bit more. Fair is fair.

We are both 32, very clean, fun, and have not kids or pets. We are planning to relocate to Denver and rent a room or basement out from someone for 10 -12 months while we find jobs, get settled, and look for a house. We have plenty of reserves to stay afloat throught this time period but we prefer this situation over to renting our own apartment. This way we can be more mobile incase things don't work out and we decide to return home.

Any websites or suggestions are appreciated. I've tried Craig's list and lots of adds say "No Couples".

I may have said this earlier, but here goes... Put an ad in that town's classified, "Apartment Wanted. Mature couple looking for..." Nobody's going to advertise a rental space in their own home (imagine what nut-bags would show up, then sue when the owner refused to rent), but may rent if they do the calling. Try it.
