When my son & I moved & needed Deposit & 1st months rent. 3 Churches pulled together for the deposit. It took ALL of my SSD for the 1st months rent!

Also consider trading the truck for small RV! Either way You can drive to better weather conditions! My Dream Retirement was to travel in an RV all over the USA! Lost that dream when I ended up in a W/C & on SSD. How are you sleeping in the truck now?

Some states give food stamps to supplement SSI, and others like California give a cash supplement. Depends on the state. But plenty people on SSI do get food stamps. I'm glad CA gives a cash supplement instead, so I can spend it the way I want to.

I sleep in the cab. Have to just lay over in the seat because seat isn't wide enough to lay down. It's a little Ranger.

It's already getting hotter and looking for a way to get the glass out of the windows and put screen up to help keep the back cooler for the cats. Never done anything like that before so new experience. I'm trying to find screen I can cut down to fit the windows.

Keep trying to find a roommate on Craigslist. Some people will even rent out their living rooms to make ends meet, the tough part is having the cats, but best of luck, I wish there were places for people to go for help, but there isn't.

There's a 10 year Section 8 waiting list in San Diego, and it makes no difference if you're disabled or a senior - you have to wait your turn.

Yes but you can apply to multiple jurisdictions and be willing to move... this is the fastest way on the program barring a natural disaster like Katrina where thousands of Vouchers were issued good anywhere.

People on the waiting list get to jump to the top if they have a written physician's 12-month terminal prognosis - much more likely for seniors than for younger wait-listers.
