How much is heat for you folks, and what size living quarters?

I am still formulating a budget here...

On the electric heat thing..we don't blow the heat, we keep it low. I think it just has to be an inefficient, old boiler because we do not splurge. We keep lights off, hardly use the dryer, have installed some of those energy efficient lights, and generally do not go insane.

With winter I have seen a big spike...(plus the electric co. was granted a nice increase). We keep the heat on 66/67 and this is in VERMONT. We pay for the electric that RUNS the heater. This place is drafty and needs to be fixed up. Hopefully the new landlord will be better than the old one.

Well my heat is included. Its a 2 room effec. 500$
It gets REALLY hot (2nd floor - steam heat -LL controled)

But thats ok because I have to keep my windows cracked so I dont suffocate to death from all the chainsmokers living in the building.

How much is the heating bill running you guys in the NE in the winter?
I was looking at few places for next year that have woodburners/fireplaces plus electric baseboard. Is it insane?

Usually that means you don't have control over the thermostat. I don't have any utiliities included in my rent, but that means I have control over temperature, have my own water heater etc. which I far prefer.

I've been finding ALOT in the $350-$450 range lately. This is looking good for me. Hopefully these aren't dives.
