Full year lease to month to month (apartment, breaking a lease, tenants)

I am currently in a year lease until June. I am planning I finishing off the lease with no issues however I am thinking of relocating after the lease is over and trying to find another job. The thing is I have no guarantee about the job so I was thinking of asking my landlord if we can make it a month to month lease after the lease is over just until September.... That way if I do find another job I will not be breaking a lease I will only need to give 30 days notice.
If she agrees, should there be a document written up that states the agreement?
Check your current lease. There may already be a clause that the lease rolls over into a month-to-month agreement unless you sign a new lease or give notice that you're vacating. Usually it's $50-$100 more than your stated rental rate (like we're in a place where the rent was $850 and a month to month would be $900).
If your lease doesn't say anything, you'd want to talk to your landlord. They may not be willing to do a month to month agreement.

She can not be left with an empty apartment and no rent because she may have expenses like a mortgage on the house. There should be an agreement though that you will be on a month to month with the understanding that she can start showing the apartment starting on a certain date.

I really think the pool of potential renters looking in June but waiting until September to move in would be quite limited.

I charge 25-30% more a month for month to month tenants so I wouldn't be showing your unit while you were month to month. No one here can give you answers but that concern is the risk you run by going month to month.
Is there a termination clause in your lease? Would it be acceptable to just sign another year lease, then pay the termination fee if you get another job and want to move?

On my current lease it says that if I need to break the lease I would need to pay the rent until the landlord has found new tenants. To be honest I don't see my landlord making a good effort to find new tenants if that were to happen so it would be me paying monthly rent even though I would no longer live there.
I would be okay with a fee such as not getting my deposit back or something like that, but I just wouldn't be able to afford paying rent for most of the year in an apartment I wouldn't be living in.
