I'm trying to register my car in nc and I'm from nj but I want to use my grandmothers address. She is on section 8 will it affect her section 8 if i use her address to register my car.

federal law actually requires that when you drive interstate that if any of the states you pass through have higher minimum insurance requirements , you have to automatically be covered at that level of coverage without being charged . the insurer and the state pick up the tab for the extra coverage if you have an accident .
so when we had the house in pa but actually lived in new york if we lied and used the pa address but had an accident in new york then pa and the insurer would have to pay out the extra money in new york because our minimums are higher without us actually paying for that insurance or even having pa as a primary residence
where that car is primarily garaged and driven is where it has to be insured .
