Thank you, bikegal. It's really sad that there are so many who are just plain inconsiderate and don't even consider whether what they are doing is even necessary.

White noise machine doesn't help because these things are super LOUD and create a lot of vibration. I have tried sleeping with ear plugs on and I can still very much help.

I use my leaf blower just about every day as I have mounted it to a little wagon which will propel me around the yard and is low enough that I can reach down and pick up loose sticks or dandelion heads as I go back and forth

Yes, it is. Like I said, I hate leafblowers and weed whackers anyway, like when my stupid neighbors uses them, usually early on weekends. It's sad that people, and society, don't think about their actions, and how they affect other people. I don't know how someone can think that having a perfectly straight strip of grass is so important to warrant the godawful noise. Like, do they think people really care, and walk by and go "oh my, what a straight lawn." I've seen people riding by when they're out there early on weekends, staring at them - and I'm sure it's not because they're so impressed with their dedication to maintaining a straight lawn.

But, that's what's ****ed up about this society - it's demented. The laws and "rights" are totally backwards. You can't play loud music, but you can make some sort of god-awful noise, as long as it can be passed off as "work". Well, I guess that's not surprising, because the "work" mentality is all that seems to matter in this society, not peace, quiet, quality of life, etc. It's pretty sad when music is seen as more disturbing than those noisemakers from hell.

Oh, and to retaliate against the ******* neighbors (the same ones where the guy climbs out his window to sit on his roof, directly across from my window), since my dad would play music, in the spring he would open the windows, and play saxophone really loudly. And then when the idiots would go outside, they would look over that direction, with a strange look - like, oh my god, what are you doing? Don't you know the only noise anyone makes is with lawn equipment? And then, I got a trumpet, and would play really bad, and loud, right next to the window, to annoy them, and the other *******s on the other side. Haha. Hey, it was during the day, when "noise" is acceptible, right? So, I was just playing by the rules.

Leaf-blowing daily is completely ridiculous. I could not live in a place that did that. I would have to move.

How is someone one who "shows pride" in getting enough sleep, so they can do their job, and function, so they can pay money to the landlord, who apparently doesn't care about his tenants peace and quiet, and quality of life - less important? There must be other people who are also annoyed, maybe you could talk to the other people and get together and go to the manager, or whoever is doing it, and file a complaint.

You're totally right. This is exactly what's wrong with this society - it's ****ed up. It's all about "rights", but apparently the "right" to make noise, even if it's unnecessary, and disturbs others, and is at an early hour, is more important than other people's right to peace and quiet, and a decent quality of life.

In other words, you believe the rest of the world should come to a screaming halt just because you work the night shift.

Within reason, local laws give the evil noise makers the right to make as mush noise as they'd like. It is NOT up to you to dictate was is and what is not "necessary" noise.

I don't know how much clearer it could be that this daily activity benefits nobody and is NOT asking the rest of the world to come to a screaming halt. These guys are literally blowing at nothing but a few tiny specks of dirt. I don't even see any actual leaves this time of year. If there were any actual debris, it would make far more sense to just pick it up and throw it away.

And yes, I do believe people should show some consideration for others. Its called being a good human- you should try it some time, Reenzz.

Will try asking the LL to reconsider the schedule. As I have said, I haven't been here very long so I don't really know my neighbors, but could try asking around.

As a former night shift worker, I understand your problem very, very well. Does the LL know your work schedule? What time do you get up usually? 10 or 11? I would talk to the LL and ask if there's anyway they could start later. (I too think that daily leafblowing is a bit of overkill). All you can do is ask.

If one has always had the luxury of a 9-5 job, one cannot understand the utter hell of being a day sleeper.

Yeah I used to live in a large apartment building. No joke, they had one person on staff who spent most of their day circling the property blowing the leaves around. Never collected or removed them, which meant the leaves just blowed back onto the lawn the next day, and he did it all over again, day after day.

I lived in the city where enough properties did this that the townsfolk worked on legislation to prohibit leaf blowers. They are a noise nuisance, and most of the workers employed to use them are immigrants who are not given proper ear protection for the noise, and don't know about OSHA regulations requiring them (or are afraid to ask).

But I doubt you're going to find a receptive ear to these arguments in NC. And most noise laws have exemptions for temporary noises like leaf blowers. All I can say is good luck. Maybe collect some flyers from your doctor about hearing damage and leave them in their mailbox?

Yeah showing pride is one thing. Doing daily yard work is another. Most landscaping is fine weekly not daily.
Yes imo it's unreasonable to do daily maintenance. In apartments it may be more frequent but it's usually sectioned off in areas to be done so it's a rotation type of cycle. Again usually weekly
