I moved out from my previous apartment over a year ago. I recently found out that my old landlord send a letter to my old roommate indicating that we owed money. I obviously never laid it because I had no idea. I left my forwarding address, they had my e-mail, and my phone number but I was never contacted about it. I'm about to start applying for new apartments but don't know how this is going to affect the process. What do I do?

How did you find out? Now that you know, you should contact the old landlord and ask about the charges and damages and see what YOU can do to rectify the situation.
No landlord wants tenants that don't pay for things.

Not nearly enough information here.

Did the LL return the security deposit or an accounting of deductions within the amount of time as required by your state's law? How long ago was this letter received?

Get more details from your old roommate and report back to us.
