Default utilities

hey everyone - the guy we're renting our house from moves out at the end of april or first of may. so he's planning on cutting the utilities off. we move in june 1st. we don't really want to get there and have to wait a few days for everything to be cut on - so can we call the companies and just have the names transferred so nothing has to be cut off? or do we have to have it all cut off and cut back on under our name? and then - if we get everything cut back on, do we have to be there? we'd probably want to be, right?

thanks for the help!

Default Just Transfer the Power into your Name.

Generally the easiest way is to call your utility company and request the utilities be transferred into your name on a specific date...

Transfers are very easy and should only require a meter reading.

Once the the utilities are turned off... it's a different matter...

The best way to insure the power stays on is to coordinate the transfer.
