We bought someone's garage fridge for $100. It is a 1927 Monitor top. After 10 years of constant use, it had a problem, the fan started squealing loudly. I sprayed some lubricant around the shaft and the squealing stopped. Now going on 12 years - so far so good.

We bought a new Bosch dishwasher about the same time. It was Consumer reports #1 pick that year. the best one! It has broken down eight times in 12 years. It is expensive to fix and sometimes the parts have to come from Germany. It never worked very well anyway. It cleans mediocre at best and dries poorly. CR picked it in part because it is quiet and uses very little water (so what?). I think it was probably broken when they tested it so it actually was completely silent and used no water. That is why it won.

I don't need anything special for the refrigerator (ie ice maker, water, fancy stuff, etc), just a base level regular refrigerator that has one part that keeps things cold and another that keeps things frozen. Same for washer/dryer, probably on average one load a week. Just needs basic temperature adjustments. Just me in the house for now. Thanks.
My advice?

Go to a big box store or any other store that sells appliances & buy the cheapest (dents are good & so are floor models) you can get your hands on.

I had an employee in a different situation that you are in, but close enough to; she was waiting for her townhouse to be built and brand new appliances were included in this new townhouse. Her washer (in the current residence that she owned) had been on it's last legs and she was tired of spending the money to have it fixed. She figured that she could either buy a used one that worked or spend another $200 for labor & parts on the one that she had already sunk enough money in to. She didn't want to buy new for the last few months she would be in her condo, so she bought a washing machine (high-end, but used) on Craig's List.

Her Craig's List washer worked like a charm. But it brought cockroaches in to her condo.
