I've always wondered why a Landlord can ask you for references from other Landlords, but a rentor cant really ask for references from other rentors against that Landlord. Anyway, I'm curious what tips anyone can offer when it comes to talking to the landlord with regards to finding a place to rent. I work nights so I need a place that's faily quiet during the day. I wear earplugs when I sleep, so a little noise is fine, but very loud noise will wake me up too. Wondering what advice anyone can offer when it comes to trying to get the real truth out.

If you talk long enough to anyone the truth eventually comes out......best advice I have is to invest the time but also have a reality check.....living in an apartment building.........You take your chances! are the connecting tenants slobs?.......their filth will become yours ie cockroaches etc. Noise? well, More people equals more potential for disturbance.......maybe you should investigate renting from a homeowner?(of course that has drawbacks too)........I have no problem giving references, as i feel i have gone beyond the call of duty and than some..........and i wouldnt take offense either.......the whole point is to get someone in who will stay IN...........sooos we dont have to go thru this over and over!
