Spy cameras, bugged phones, fake names, and counter-intelligence... Greatest apartment review ever
Wow. Just. Wow.
Opinion of Villas Of Preston Creek posted 4/20/2008: Staff stopping our employment so we cannot pay rent
Taken from Fark. Oh, in the Fark comments section, there's a hilarious write up about a landlord who had a tenant with the same "They're out to get me" mentality.
Here's some excerpts...
I've had a tenant like that. He took us to court 9 times. We were conspiring to defame him he claimed. My god.
On his first day of moving in to a litteraly brand new apartment, he claimed the fridge didn't work. He had 1 bottle of water in it, and it was cold. He insisted that it should be 33 degrees. 1 degree above freezing. Just to shut him up I loaded a BRAND NEW still in the box fridge upstairs to his apartment, and opened it in front of him. He searched it for "the cameras I'd hid" when he couldn't find them, he said, "oh, you're good. I see you've been at this a long time." I chuckled, installed it and left.
He completely disassembled it, and released the refrigerant in the process. And then demanded we replace it. Court appearance number 1.... I could go on and on....
**************************
Ok. Then there was the time he posted a note on every car and door to have a "town meeting" at the pool area to discuss his (and everyones) mistreatment at our hands. He set up a podium, brought chips (mind you, right outside the office, at 3 pm on a weekday.) and drinks. Sat down with his papers, and waited. No one came.
At about 3:30 he became agitated. stormed into the office and demanded to know how we "programmed everyone not to come." That he'd told others to coat the inside of their apartments with foil or copper screen to interfere with the "scanning equipment" I kept in my shop, and that's why he was the only one who could see "what was happening".
He threw the cookie plate onto the floor and we called the cops.
(again...sigh.) and they had to listen to this guy's madness before sending him home. This just led him to believe that the cops "were in on it"
He took us to court for "harassment, and a violation of his "right to hold a meeting" (or something constitutional I cannot remember.) For making it so that people didn't attend his meeting. He couldn't accept that people just didn't want to come.
He also sued us for posting notices on his door. (violation of privacy) willful infliction of emotional distress... Loss of income. and I forget some of the other stuff. 9 times though. Finally the judge threw him in jail and got him some help.
when we took possession of his apartment, it was empty save for the computer he'd built, loads of tinfoil, a cot, and lots and lots of copper screen stapled to the ENTIRE surface of the inside of the apartment, a safe, and a bunch of "spy" junk. Cameras, microphones, broken computer parts lots of smoke detector parts. It was pretty crazy.
