Default I rent. Where is my bailout?

Is anyone that rents as irritated as me about the homeowner bailouts they are talking about?

It just makes me mad. I live within my means. I rent because I like to be mobile, and I like to have extra money. Also, I know I would struggle to make large mortgage payments.

Why is our tax money going to be used to bail these people out!?!?!? It just drives me crazy

Like it or not, if your tax money doesn't go to help our struggling economy, in this instance in the form of homeowner bailout, then it would certainly affect you and not in a positive way. It's not like we're talking about a few irresponsible people here, it's hundreds of thousands of people. If it keeps on going like it has been, everyone will be in trouble, not just those people. I think you'd really be mad when you lose your job or something else happens because of this mess that would personally affect you. So I wouldn't really get mad at this. It is what it is and as long as their is a goal to end this mess, then I'm all for whatever happens to get us to that place.

Wah wah wah...well, I OWN, and my house is paid off. Where's my bailout? I was responsible and didn't buy a house until I could pay for it. Now all you irresponsible morons are affecting me unjustly. Wah boohoo.

(In other words, nothing we can do about it. Just keep on being responsible with your money I guess...)

Exactly, I own (ie. rent from the bank), do not own outright, but am not behind on my payments and not in immediate danger of getting behind. Where's my bailout?!

Bottom line. Life's not fair. Tough!

I rented for years and bought my homes cash...where is my bailout?....I agree with you...and nobody should be bailed out for spending too much, they all knew they couldn't afford it, but most were in the greedy mood and the denial mood...now reality is knocking on their door and I don't want my money to go to them....now i want to be greedy!

I know I'm irritated. These folks could well see their monthly housing costs drop by what? one or two hundred dollars a month and us? We'll still be paying exactly the same tomorrow as we paid today. Today I heard one of Obama's aides saying it's for the good of the 'collective economy'. You know what that means? The same thing as a centrally controlled economy. but "Oh" you hear them cry, "If you don't help out you will feel bad yourself". You see them in this thread. Rubbish I say if you want a free market economy sometimes you have to suffer for it.

America is going through a massive transformation and this latest move is just another example of punishing success and rewarding failure. We've done it with the banks, we've done it with the car industry and now we are doing it with the housing market. Make no mistake there is no pathway back from this we are ruining the competitiveness and innovativeness of this country for at least a generation. I guess it seems like the only way to politicians right now. They think to themselves we must do all we can to keep people happy, to keep people comfortable. After all if they don't keep people happy they don't get reelected so they perceive things through this narrow short term POV. They will kill the American economy for years to try and satisfy the American peoples' desire for instant fulfillment. Think for a minute, the cost of all these bailouts and the money we borrow. Remember last year the $600 rebate folks got? Well the interest payments alone are an anti stimulus of $600 per person for the next 10 to 30 years! And then we have to actually pay back the bonds!

America had a choice a short sharp painful shock or a drawn out restructuring of the entire American quality of life. We chose option two. I'm not too sure our kids and grandkids will thank us for that

If you guys who are renting are pissed about the bailout, just go buy a now discounted house with an $8000 credit from the Government (read: the American population). Presto, no reason to be upset.

If you can't buy a house then don't get upset.

Only if you're a first time homeowner though. Ridiculous.
