You should see how people SPEED through the apartment complex where I live. There is one woman in a huge truck who sped up trying to beat the school bus and had to slam her breaks. I was livid (my son was about to get off the bus).
Right now there are 2 little kids (both under the age of 8 I would say) cruising around on their bikes, obliviously riding right near the turn in drive where people come in...very, very quickly.
Please slow down! There are kids, pets, people out....
It has been like this forever. It isn't safe & alot of people have almost had close calls. That being said, people do need to watch their kids more closely. A friend mine complains b/c the neighbor's kid whips in & out of the driveway at top speed. Is that wrong, absolutely..however my friend's complaint is because his non school age children are playing in the driveway. Driveways are not for playing & children should not be playing by the road either, especially unsupervised. Reckless drivers will always exist. Instead of threatening the neighbor kid he should have had his kids playing in the backyard or away from the road as that is a safer spot for many reasons, in particular b/c people do get hit by cars & reckless drivers will always exist. However he insists on stubbornly bringing his kids out to play there & blows up everytime this kid drives in - which is just moronic on many levels, especially since it isn't safe for toddler (or pre-school age) kids to be playing there in the FIRST place.
