Is there any way for me as a landlord to report bad renters (not paying rent) to a credit bureau?

Bad Tenant.org - Free tenant screening and reporting on bad tenants on this free website I have reported mine bad tenants so other LL can see them and check them. I hope many LL will report them. I'm in no way related to this website other than that I came across it while I was searching for the same thing as you are looking for.

I think you can report them if you pay for it...or a debt collector can do it.

If you take them to court and win, the judgement will go on their credit report. When the judgement is satisfied, you file a Satisfaction of Judgement then that is picked up by the reporting bureaus, too. Just like any other debt or lien that is recorded.

The service we use for credit reports allows for a good or bad report to also be submitted at the end of that person's tenancy. We rarely ever submit a bad report because it just isn't that common here to totally get scammed by a tenant.

Do you have a way of obtaining the credit report in the first place, or if not you can use a tenant screening service.

I don't think a judgment will automatically will go on some ones credit report. As far as I have read on the internet it has to be reported to them. I have a judgment against a previous tenant and had it certify, it can come up with a background check.

There are tons of screening agencies out there, just google it and you can find it but before you start wasting your money on it...check the public records for free in you county and neighboring counties...I have done it and it saved me on tenant screening payments since already their judgment and other things came up so I didn't have to go any further but could eliminate them faster without any costs.

Than you only need to screen who is left and has the most change of becoming your tenant. For every name you screen it will be added to the amount you have to pay for...so safe a lot by starting the free way before taking the other route!

Further, is there a device or system where a neighbor can report a bad tenant?

Does this sort of thing happen to you a lot?
If so, you might consider your role in the situation(s).

As to the "agencies" that take names for cases that haven't one through Court?
Be real careful of the slander charges you open yourself up to...
and if you have several of these you're mostly warning renters that YOU are the problem.

Contact the owner/landlord of the property.

This thread is pretty old so the comment is probably redundant.
