Everything has its season!

I was just looking at apartments today and it seems the only thing left are overpriced and suspiciously low priced

What time of year would you say is the best time to look for apartments? Does it vary from city to city? I remember 2 years ago there were TONS in January. I also noticed a huge jump in avg rent from last year's asking price.
Not happy about that one at all.

Depending on the region you live, the busiest time in the rental business is spring and summer. The main reason, school age kids. Most are looking to get settled in before they return to school.

Yes, experience here says that about a month before school starts is the busiest time.

Absolutely before school starts. EVERYONE is looking for housing, so apartments usually have smoking deals.

I have found the opposite experience to be true - we get the best deals when we move in the off-season - for instance moving during the winter holiday season. Supply and demand.
