If you don't pay what's due by the third day, eviction proceedings will follow and you'll be given a Summons to appear in court to answer the charges against you. If you don't appear in Court a judgement against you will be automatically rendered and this will go on your credit record. Even if you do appear in Court you'll have a judgement rendered against you for the rent owed through the end of your lease, along with any damages to the apartment not covered by your security deposit and court costs. This will also go on your credit rating and make it difficult for you to find any apartment anywhere where a background and credit check is made. If a payment plan is put in place by the judge and you don't follow it, your future wages can be garnished. Hope that helps explain.
