No. They will not give your voucher to anybody else. But if you explain the situation, they may be able to live out the rest of the lease term. Like if someone died. But then again, wherever you are going, you will need to take your voucher with you in order to live somewhere..so I'm not sure. I am sure that if something happened to the voucher holder, that the ones added on will be able to live there for the rest of the lease term only.

You need to talk to your Section 8 case worker to see what they will do in your case.

YES! The other person CAN take over Setion 8! When I was talking about moving to Fla My son 36 at the time wanted to stay here. The HUD?Setion 8 ladies said He could stay cause the Apt lease & Section 8 had his name on it his income. Since I was the one moving out He get the Setion 8 help I have to re-apply where ever I went. So Yes You can Move out & Your Son keeps the Section 8!

Sectio 8/HUD has Nothing to do with being Disabled Nor Having Kids Its About INCOME! So even if your well & healthy you may still qulify for HUD/Section 8

Some areas still give preference to those that are disabled (bumps them to the top of the list) and there are designated properties available only for the disabled.

Many are remembering the old rules where the disabled were always given priority. Which IMO should still be the case. If you're healthy you can hustle and pick up extra work. If you're truly disabled, that isn't an option. It is not uncommon for the disabled to end up having to depend on family or face homelessness.
