I had a friend who was staying with me over the course of two years. In January we had a disagreement about an unpaid bill and he decided to take his things and leave. The only thing he had in my home was clothes that he wasn't really wearing and underclothes. By and By he came in the house and gathered other things that belonged to him. He told me he would come get the rest of his things in June which I said well whatever. I didn't say yes or no to the statement. I started a relationship with someone and I wanted my roommate to come gather his things. I texted him over the phone and told him to come gather his things. He came and got his stuff willingly and dropped off the key. He told me he was going to file for the intent to sue me, but he is only down on the lease as an occupant. My question is can he sue me and if so can I counter sue him because he didn't pay any bills in the house?

What is he planning on suing you for? Technically he actually he owes you for the six months during which he left his belongings in the house and kept the key! But you really haven't provided enough information to offer any comments.

I'm sure you can find a lawyer who will file a suit for any reason. It sounds like you are both mad at each other and think that a threat of a suit will scare the other person. What can he possibly sue about? As I said, I'm sure there are lawyers who will file over any frivolous thing. thsi sounds childish.
