In the above car, the front license plate holder is a part that is "riveted in". I know this because a couple of years ago someone hit the front of my car and cracked both the plate and the holder and besides the trouble in getting the plate replaced at DMV, it involved buying the part at a dealer and having them "rivet it in".
Last night the same thing happened, except that the plate holder simply "popped out" from the front intact with the plate and rivets in it. I could not simply "snap it back" into the holes in the front of my car and I'm showing the front plate on my windshield for now.
Since the plateholder itself isn't damaged (the rivets even still line up with the holes), it is an easy repair for someone (say a body shop) to "rerivit" it into the front of my car? I prefer not to go to a dealer again as they'll probably rip me off.
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated, thanks!
Around here we'd drill out the rivets, get some good bolts, nuts and large washers to hold it on and be done with it. Ten minutes tops and it'll probably never fall off again.
