Smile Where Is the best place to retire???

It may be awhile for me, but that doesnt stop me from being interested in the question; what is the best state to retire? I am interested in states in the Southeast. I will prefer suburban/rural. I want to be away from crime, I will not be on a limited budget however I would like a place that is somewhat affordable. I'm not interested in being near the coast but anything else is good. rather it be in the mountains or it be in the center of a state, but I want warm weather year round. I'm very interested in Georgia or South Carolina for retirement but if you think there is a better place to retire in North Carolina, Tennessee etc; I would aslo be intersted. Im very open to suggestion.

Default The question in the OP has no answer.

Too vague, too broad. You gave a geographical section of the country (southeast) without stating if you want urban, suburban, or rural living. Nor did you state if you will be living on a severely limited budget, which makes a difference. What about climate? There is quite a range of climate within the southeastern states. Are cultural events important to you? Etc., etc. What did you hope to get from this?

Edited later: O.K., you have edited your OP, so I take it all back! LOL

I currently live in the Atlanta area and I don't recommend it. The crime here gets worse every year. It was a great place to live when I moved here many years ago but it is becoming a cesspool.
One of the places I am seriously considering is Greenville, SC. I have only been there once but it was so clean and well-kept and friendly that it made me want to come back. Check out their forum. The people on it are friendly and helpful. And there are so many different towns surrounding Greenville that have different personalities that you are bound to find something you like.

We have always disliked urban, and we do not like desert or humidiity.

After I retired we decided to move to Maine.

So far after 5-years we like it

Since you are not interested in the coast and for affordability and mountains consider North Central Arkansas (Mountain Home, Mountain View areas)
