We did the RV thing for about 10 years, I highly recomend it. Although it was not full time , we did travel for 6 weeks at a time twice a summer. When younger , we lived aboard a sailboat for 5 years , so , nothing new for us. Seeing the Country, many times, was the highlight of 25 years of travel, all of North America, mostly in a vintage car, towed behind our RV.
Ya, were actually thinking of getting condo in Vegas for a home base. Somewhere the kids can crash during breaks from school, a place to get with them for holidays and just a retreat when we need to get off the road for a little while. Our current plan is to RV like 70-80% of the time. See the country, but instead of vintage car we will be seeing it from the Jeep I am restoring. Honestly, we start salivating every time we see a big Class A with a dingy.

I am a big advicate of pulling an enclosed trailer behind the RV. Ofcoarse , with a vintage car , it was nessary, but there can be other reasons, and its always dry, with additional storage available. Look into it, as a towed vehicle just gets trashed !

A common thread I've noticed is the almost cliche, 'you are only as old as you think you are' -- seems to have its roots deeply imbedded in the soil of many people's lives. That's somewhat of a shift from my expectation of many years ago, when I thought that one's life and excitement were over by 60-70.
In reality, there is very little difference between the 18-year old looking-outward through 82-year old 'windows' ... or 18-year old 'windows' (except, of course, the body has a lot more energy and the mind has a lot more experience and common sense). Isn't life great!

Good health and a sharp mind are a good thing......at any age !...The problem is , at 30 you are still bullet proof, and at 69 you have forgot that you once were.....Looking Back and remembering all you have done, accomplished, regretted, sometimes makes the soup a little boring and bland.( If you are 30 and bulletproof). Nothing like living life to the fullest, at any age.

Glad this thread was resurrected. Great idea on the trailer. In our musing we both wondered how to transport larger things like kayaks, bicycles, etc. Like a garage on wheels. A whole world of possibilities just opened up.

Yes it is , A garage on wheels. They build em now to really fit your RV, same paint and height. Inside is an elevator so you can carry 2 cars, and or equipment. Featherlite makes a good one , all aluminum , but there are others also.... I had a 3 Axel Featherlite, no elevator. I went 3 Axel to reduce tongue wt., pulled better going down the road also. I had a V nose and 24' flat floor. I could put my Vintage car and a small 1936 Mullins luggage trailer in side up in the V. I pulled the rig with a 38' Monaco Windsor. 350 hp. We went to Alaska, NWT Canada, many miles of dirt/gravel, all 48 states several times,, and all Canadian Provinces. ( except Labrador).
Great way to travel, we saw North America like many never do, can only dream about.
