when i was a child i spent a lot of time in church and sunday school. the pastor of the church my family attended was a person i often disagreed with as i grew up;it has been many years since i've been a member of that church. however i have often remembered his formula as to what gives meaning to life. he stated that to find meaning in life one must have:

someone to love
someone who loves you
something to look forward to

i don't pretend, as an adult, that it's that simplistic or even in some instances, possible. also one size probably does not fit all, especially as we age and life is changed for us. but i still view it as a meaningful place from which to begin.

catsy, I've read that too -- but it was styled a bit differently.

For Happiness, we need:
Someone to love
Something to do
Something to look forward to

Great comment!

This topic of this thread is not at all unique to retirement, and would be more appropriate for the Great Debates forum. Thread closed.
