That's great, Barb! I think you made a good choice. Prescott is a nice place with a wonderful climate for not being in Hawaii or on the California coast.

Wow! That's a surprise and good news! Maybe have a better chance of a get together?? Much closer.

Lots of work ahead I'm afraid but it'll be so worth it once you are settled. Your new house will be just a tad smaller than mine...but sometimes I wish mine was! Congrats and good luck!

Congratulations! Hope your downsizing and move go as smoothly as ours. Our TX house (which we'll eventually sell) is ca 2700 sf, our Fayetteville AR house is 1580.

Barb, Wonderful news! Best wishes for a smooth transition.

We've just sold our 3200 ft home and plan to buy one around 2000 ft. Talk about downsizing!!

Moving is definitely not for the faint of heart. Every object has to be thought over, accepted or rejected. It's exhausting. Some of the stuff in the Good Will box gets taken out once I get to the Good Will donation store.
Help !!!

Believe me, I know exactly what you are talking about. Just today, made an offer, was accepted, and escrow opened on my retirement home. Now to get rid of my current house. I'm going from 2,850 square feet down to 1,678 square feet.

Near the beginning of the process of downsizing, I "discovered" a well-known, but unnamed scientific law. As most know, a scientific law is 'set in stone'. It has been proven to be fact and that there are no known exceptions in the universe. You can 'take it to the bank'. I wish I knew the name of it.

This law says, "In this life, you are allocated a certain amount of space . . . and, you WILL fill it!"

I guess the corollary is "nature abhors a vacuum".

Small house, soon enough, it will be filled with "stuff". Large house, soon enough, it will be filled with "stuff". My 2,850, 4bed/3bath, two-story, three-car garage "executive home" . . . is filled with "stuff"! "But it's 'good' stuff, right?" "Do I want to haul 'this' 1,200 miles to my new home?" "Trash it?" "Recycle it?" "Donate it to the Salvation Army?" "Shred it?" Every little piece of "stuff" I pick up has to have a decision made about it. It's a colossal task!

Yes . . . HELP, HELP!!!
