Red Flag Fire Warning today winds forecast 40mph temps in the 80's and low humidity. UGH. Too early for this! Mornings are nice though, in the low 40's, and the dogs enjoy our 4 mile sunrise walks in the forbidden zone. Saw bear scat today on the trail, their waking from hibernation it's been so warm here.

San Diego opened it's air-fire-fighting group today. I agree - too early for this!

I smiled when I saw the thread asking if you are getting enough exercise. Between the dog and the grandkids, I get a lot of steps in.

My grandson is on spring break and we went to Blind Pass beach this morning.. We made a palm tree trunk that had washed ashore into a spiny backed dragon with buckets of sand and shells.. The beach was filling up quickly, but it didn't take long to leave the crowds behind on a walk/run: him running and me walking.

I am exhausted and expect to sleep deeply tonight.

Yes, I do. Katy is part Lab and part Catahoula. I lost her mom, Lady, a yellow Lab about 3 1/2 years ago. Lady was 15 and Katy will be 14 in June.

My maternal grandmother was born May 10, 1886. Always loved ... always missed. She passed away in 1979 at the age of 93.

How did I guess! Good ages for bigger dogs--I hear they don't last as long as little dogs. Dogs are such fun, cats are too. I have a Pomeranian right now--the silly wuppet, lol.

That's what they say, but I guess it's not always the case. One of my daughter's dogs died last November. He was three months away from being 18. He was smaller, so that fits with the smaller living longer. When I first started taking my Lab to the vet, he said he's never seen a Lab live past 12. I thought to myself, "Well, my girl will." And she did! And Katy being part Lab and about 20 pounds less than her Mom, I'm hoping she lives to be older than Lady was. Yes, dogs are great and such good company for a single senior. Poms are adorable.

What a coincidence! My paternal grandmother was born July 14, 1886 and died in 1978 at age 92.
