A current thread title in the "Unexplained Mysteries and Paranormal" forum is "The Hum is spreading". Uh-oh. I haven't heard any Hum, either with or without my hearning aids in. But I sure was glad to see that so I can stay informed about the world we live in. What would I do without City-Data?

Oh, and in the "Self-Sufficiency and Preparedness" forum, we've got "WAR to cover up financial collapse", explaining how World War III is looming on the horizon. Jeeze, we better enjoy each others' company here while we can! Those posters there are deep thinkers and serious people.

Those of us old enough remember the Cuban missile crisis. I was only 11at the time but remember everyone in the grocery store stocking up on canned goods and batteries. Seems we've always been "on the brink" of ww3. Which of course, has to happen, so in 2063 Zephram Cochran can invent warp drive and the Vulcans will visit.

It's taken five years, but we finally opened a bank account in FL this morning. Actually it's with a credit union. We tried opening one yesterday and as we were waiting for a few minutes in the lobby, I wondered if having our credit frozen would be a problem. Oh yeah, it sure was, so we had our credit reports unfrozen for 24 hours and returned this morning and got everything set up.

It was a pleasant experience and long overdue. We are driving up to NY for a week and a half to hand off our sailboat and go to tax grievance day and will bring some a few more things home to FL. The slow move continues as we transition to here permanently.

I have recently discovered the folly of keeping all accounts with the credit union.

Just sayin'.

Oh-oh! What problem did you have with yours? It's good to know about the other side of things and to be aware.

We've had a credit union account in IN for 40 years and actually got the mortgage for the FL house through them, they had the best rates and were great to work with. We've used a small local savings bank in NY ever since we moved there. We'll eventually switch our NY acct to FL when we sell the house in NY. So for now, we have three institutions we deal with.

The credit union in FL bought out a regional bank, which is unusual for a CU. They have a lot of good things with their checking and savings accounts and online banking. With our credit score we can get their MasterCard for 9.9%, so we will switch to that, if it holds up after reading all the small print. It all looks good, so far.

I did ask why they needed a credit check and was told it's part of the Patriot Act along with identification and credit scores determine membership.

Woke up to about an inch of snow this morning. Let the dogs out and half way in the yard they stopped and had this puzzled look, then rolled around and played in the snow. Glad I brought my plants in last night!

The past week has been a bit stressful and very frustrating.

But! This morning I woke up with some sweet music in my head (no radio or outside noise), just a gift that God must have thought I needed.

Do you recall the sweet music from some of Disney's movies? Snow White? Cinderella? The voices that sound like angels (I really have not heard an angel, tho). At first I wondered, oh oh, is this the beginning of dementia?? haha No, I don't think so, but it sure was nice.
