[quote=HollyhockGarden;50086338] "Wow. We have a high-profile crime case here in the Phoenix area this week. A 94-year old woman was kidnapped and locked in her own car trunk for 7 hours. She was able to escape and Scottsdale, AZ police are trying very hard to catch this guy and get him off the streets. Thankfully, the lady should recover, they say. But I am saying prayers for her -- that is a terrible ordeal for anymore to endure, especially someone age 94, and she is still in the hospital."

We had a similar incident yesterday here in Syracuse, NY. Only the kidnapped woman was not 94, I think in her 30s.

Her "husband" beat her over the course of a day or two, then forced her into the trunk of the car. Drove around for several hours. Then drove back to the house and released her. She of course called police who when investigating the beating/kidnapping found him with another guy and in this discovery, they found the biggest heroin stash ever. It was in the billions of dollars worth. Plus a lot of cash and some mary-jane.

Unbelievable. Where do people get all this money for this stuff? I can't remember what the two men were charged with, but it did not seem like enough "time" to cover it.

NYgal -- Terrible about the Syracuse crime. I am glad they were able to catch these guys and hopefully will keep them off the street. I think the Phoenix/Scottsdale guy is still on the loose.

Are you impacted by the cold snap where you are, NYgal? I have heard it is pretty nippy in some places in the NE, breaking old temp records. I hope you are warm and safe.

Yes, has been very cold past few days. Lows overnight in the teens. Even had a trace of snow the other morning. Not sure I am ready for this.

I'm finding myself loving my apartment, the comfort I feel here, my cats, food in the fridge, etc.

Life is good.

Speaking of bars -- a well-known establishment in the Chicago area, Fitzgerald's, announced it was going to transform an extra room not used very much, into a "It's a Wonderful Life" themed bar for the season. It will have the room open on Wednesday nights only, and show the movie on a big screen. And will be offering Clarence's favorite beverage - Flaming Rum Punch!!! I think they will have other drinks, too - after all, its a bar!

Now's your chance to tell us: Has anyone ever had a Flaming Rum Punch?

This morning I heard on TV that a well-known Yankee pitcher is going to be at the mall. He will autograph anything you bring (related to him and the Yankees). Nice idea? At first I thought it was nice.

Until I heard what the price of "admission" is....... $299.

Disappointed, disgusted, fed-up with money hungry creeps in the world.
