Jean - so sorry for your loss. It is so difficult when our pets are sick and we have to let them go. Hugs to you and your family.

Thank you for the kind thoughts..

We had to leave the next day for NY to empty out the rest of our house. It's under contract and it needs to be done before closing. So along with saying goodbye to our dog, we are saying goodbye to our old life here.

We went to the Christmas tree lighting tonight. A group in the village bandstand was singing all the classic Christmas songs, we joined in on the countdown to when the huge evergreen tree lights are turned on and finally Santa arrived on the fire truck. We've seen many through the years and it was nice to have a last one.

We hope to have the house cleared out and have our rented truck with a trailer on the road for the trip back in a few days.

After being in the house all day, I needed some fresh air and went outside to rake leaves. It brought back memories of our dog rolling in the leaves in years past. I used to let him out the back door only to find him later on the front porch. He would be surveying the street, master of all he saw.

One winter we had snow for days on end and we were running out of places for the snow. The snow was piled up everywhere. I went out to shovel again and took the dog will me. He promptly ran over a mound of piled up snow. It actually went over our four foot fence and he found himself in the street. We were both surprised. . Good memories when I think about them and sad to know there won't be more. It has actually helped to be here and think back on the good times.

The end of this week can't come fast enough though. I'm tired, I'm cold and I want to go home. As much as I loved this place, its time has passed.

It is so hard to lose a pet. Your reflections brought back memories of my dog. He was a small pekinese & we walked to the park every day before & after work.

Well, one winter we had a blizzard that you couldn't even walk in. He insisted I try & I still laugh when I remember how hard he tried to get through the snow.

It's sad when they go but our memories will always be with us.

jean_ji---my friend said when my furbaby went Over the Rainbow, they love unconditionally. It brought me comfort.

Accomplish something retired or still working outside the home, to the Poster who posted that---Thank You ! Sometimes I too feel, empty? if I do not accomplish Something! Sometimes think I leave things undone so I know I have something to do !

Giesela, Praise the tests gave you peace.

15th of December, when I mentioned that to someone, they said it was---next week !

wounded warrior, Frank Peretti, wrote a book about bullying. Very good ! Thought of a 75+ woman who is still suffering the effects of abuse from her father. An excellent book for healing; the answer was " A teacher asked him how he was" Being only a teen, he knew he had the gift of writing! So! He wrote his gym teacher, told him his fellow teacher inspired him to write and then poured his heart out of the abuse he had tolerated from his peers. The teacher informed his counselor AND he never had gym class again ! He discovered he had gifts, that others appreciated.

Also, he said he probably was an abuser, if he said anything unkind to someone and he apologized to them. You can see both sides.

Know this is long, though very thought provoking. Reminds me too, I have a choice "Victim or Survivor"

Thank you for allowing me to share, each of you are special to me, find acceptance here.

Those fires in Los Angeles and Ventura County are devastating. Just read they are surrounding the 405 freeway.

Escort Rider, I hope you are safe and not affected by them, though they sound awfully close to you.

Yes, ER I thought about you too. Awful thing to happen right before Christmas. All those people with little kids' presents under the tree, their decorations, their whole homes up in smoke and now, no where to live. It is truly devastating and I pray you, ER, are no where near.

Just got my computer back from having some work done on it.

jean_ji: So sorry to read of your pet's passing. I lost one about 2 years ago, so so sad and difficult. It will take time but you will be OK.
