AZDesertBrat, Sorry I wasn't reading while you broke your hip, glad its finally getting better for you. Curious, when you break a hip like that do they just.....take the opportunity to do a replacement or what? I have a hip that is starting to cause discomfort, especially when trying to sleep. But have no info on the whole replacement thing other than a lot of people seem to do them.

Snow, yes I'm from MI so keep an eye on the weather - so much of MI barely has any snow so far none in Ohio and yet - TX, Louisiana etc. Our fall her has been so extended. We are just now getting our first gloomy cold days. Makes me wonder if winter is going to last till May or something.

Working about as well as this thing does, it's been in the single digits at night outside and that thing, when it works keeps it in the high 50's in here.

Giesela---Yr neighbor practicing the uke, reminded me of when my Pop practiced the trumpet/cornet for the weekend gigs he would play. So annoying ! Then, when I moved, heard someone practicing a sax?, anyway just the scales were music to my ears ! Thank you for sharing about Victoria starting again. Purchased a booked based on the series.

Holly, when you shared about Tony Bennett, reminded me of the movie San Francisco starring Clark Gable, Jeannette MacDonald. Mama, maternal grandmother (born 1893 !) were both born in San Francisco; Mama was quite upset WWII got in the way of my being born there ! LOL (Born in Stockton were Pop was stationed, Army Air Corp---led the band !)

Olympic Peninsula, WA had snow the 1st of November ! First time that early I can remember having lived here in 24 yrs.
We rarely get snow, usually melts in a day or two.

jean-Happy you are now "home".

Each of you have a good weekend.

Hi! I didn't say anything about it for a while so nobody knew. It could have been worse, I guess, and might have needed a replacement. As it is they just put some 'nuts and bolts' in my wrist and hip and called it good. lol I didn't have any physical therapy after I got home and that, by itself, surprised everyone including me. I do have the exercise book though and did them on my own. I can't get out and walk around the neighborhood here...no sidewalks, etc...so I backed the car out of the garage and used that solid floor as my 'track'. About 30-45 min. a day. Back to work now so don't need it.

I know a LOT of people who've had hip replacements and my mom did too. I don't know how the healing differs, if it does but, boy, they make sure you are back on your feet pronto in any event. You might want to do some research online though. Tons of info out there.

I lived in MI five years...Detroit. I couldn't wait to come home to Arizona!

The things we learn on City-Data!

Today I learned a new vocabulary phrase, "go commando". (Just in case I'm not the only one who didn't know, it means not wearing underwear.)

There is a current thread in the Fashion and Beauty Forum on that topic, wondering if it's O.K. for women to do this provided their skirt is "long enough".

Right, ER, & just where would we place the necessary (for some of us) incontinence pads?

Yes, in my VERY younger years I went 'commando' a lot so as not to have a panty line. But those days are long gone.

ER, you are right. You can learn a lot on City-Data. The Commando one is a new one for me too. And I was reading a recent thread in the relationship forum. I had to Google what "FWB" meant. Apparently I am out of the loop.

There has been a long-running television ad selling some type of toilet tissue. The punch line is something like comfortable enough to go commando!

We are back in FL, finally with a good night's sleep after this past week of moving the rest of our things. I'm glad it's done and that we left before the snow came yesterday. Now I get to clean out drawers and closets to make room fir things we brought with us. We didn't bring a lot, but I can't in good conscience just stuff things away without cleaning and clearing first. At some point this week, I will be able sit down without thinking of something I should be doing.
