Went out for corned beef and cabbage yesterday with a few women from where we live. The food was delicious.

But it was snowing like crazy!!

Spring, oh spring, where art thou??

Watching an out of control fire about two miles from me. Wind is 40 mph, listening to the firemen on the scanner they are really having trouble.

Hope the wind is not blowing in your direction. I know those fires can move fast.

Thank heaven for that! Glad you will not be in danger.

First time making corned beef & cabbage Irish dinner. The smells are so enticing but it will be another few hours (slow cooker). Stomach wants it now, lol. I don't know why I never did it before. Guess I always went out to eat.

I made a St. Patrick’s Day meal for our family today too. I used my Instapot for the corned beef, made colcannon (mashed potatoes, cooked slivered cabbage, green onions) and soda bread. There was some Guinness too. We took a long walk after the kids left and we had cleaned up the kitchen. The weather has been gorgeous and on the cooler side.

Jim, we had a brush fire on Thursday here. It’s dry season and we’ve had cooler weather with much lower humidity, so conditions are right. The fire was across the Intracoastal on the Key in an isolated, hard to access place. They used helicopters and were filling up with water from lakes to dump on the fire. They used a fire boat too. Lots of excitement, but they got it under control. It burned 10 acres and came close to our community’s wood ferry dock, but it was spared. I had smelled smoke and took a drive around a few blocks, looking to see if an empty lot was on fire, but didn’t see anything. Rainy season is a long way off.

Three brush fires within a few miles of me. Idiot farmers burning their fields because that's what they do here. If there's 40-60mph winds, they don't care. I have to say for volunteer firemen, I was impressed.

Anyway, all fires are out. Rain and snow forecast for Sunday.

Saw bear tracks this evening on my walk with the dogs.

Went to a wedding of two of our friends. They served corn beef and cabbage for lunch. Tomorrow I will get to see my new great-grandson, who was born this afternoon.

If they would track down those idiots and hand them a bill for what it cost to put out the fires that would stop. Of course it will never happen. But it should.
