Nice pool! Even the kid’s shirt color matches the water AND the chair.

Red tide, ugh. Algae stinks.

Now that is the kind of pool I would like! In Florida, we had a large pool that wasn't enclosed and all around us were trees. Pine needles, live oak leaves, blossoms and acorns, maple winged seedlings, you name it. I spent so much time cleaning that pool that I was not sad at all to leave it. But if we ever moved back to Florida, I would love to have one like yours. I do have fond memories of lying in my pool hammock on a hot July or August weekend, just floating around and napping.

I've been doing quite of bit of traveling over the past year. Met up with a British lady I've been friends with in New York City, showed her around (we served together on the same ship back in 1990s). Visited Las Vegas again (so artificial! Not my cup of tea!) In May I spent nearly the entire month in Ecuador. One town, Cuenca, has no fewer than 16,000 ex-pat American gringos living there. It's historic and a very pretty town, but I can not be an ex-pat, I have too many friends and activities that keep me in the good ol' USA.

Your travels sound like fun, Clark Park!

I could use a little fun myself these days. My part of the world has been invaded by forest fires and lots of smoke. It's been hurting me to breathe so much that I wonder if I should see a doctor. The worst of the smoke is predicted to dissipate over the next few days, so I'll probably wait and see how I feel then. Perhaps a little trip to somewhere with cleaner air is in order. Trouble is I'm not sure where to go. Wish it could be Ecuador! Maybe Denver? Maybe New Mexico? Just anywhere not smokey. Cough, cough, COUGH!
