Today is our last day skiing in Utah. We head home to Southern California tomorrow to celebrate the new year. We have had some really cold days, but the snow has been great. It is supposed to snow today so we may stop a bit early depending on how heavy it gets. I took one hard fall on Friday so I was skiing a bit more cautiously yesterday. I'm happy my husband and I can still ski 4 days in a row.

Hope everyone has a happy New Year!

4 inches of snow overnight here and it's still snowing hard. Just came back from the morning walk with the doggie. Be safe tonight if you're going out on amateur night. Happy 2019.

Had another death in the family. My aunt, mom’s last sibling, died last night. She had been in bad health for awhile.

Happy New Year

On the Passing of the Year

Auld Lang Syne: We cheerfully sing the phrase
but shiver to recall what went before or
guess what’s yet to come.

Old Long Since — “since what?” we ask. Time only knows.
We bade Godspeed to so many and so much.
Once young and bold but now so far apart.

But, yes, we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne. So may we someday raise
a glass, my friend… and may it be in better times.

But for now, in times like these, we say a prayer…
or a whispered hope… as far and near, to each his own,
we’ll raise a cup o’ kindness yet, for auld lang syne.

Matisse, the two subscriptions I get for my folks are Broadway HD which includes plays and musicals, and classica stingray which includes concerts, operas and ballets. Plus I subscribe them to both acorn and britbox. It’s a bit extravagant but in their nineties they don’t get out much and depend heavily on tv for entertainment.

Well a foot of snow, 5 degrees out and it's still snowing. Power went out last night and I was awakened shivering and 34 degrees in here. Slept in long underwear and my sweat pants and sweatshirt and my dog scrunched up against me. Power back on and it's up to 53 in here now with this pellet stove on as high as it will go. Forecast low tonight below zero.

Had a good morning walk with the dog, a foot of snow is tough to walk in, he had fun romping and playing in it.

Our rather mild winter is continuing on. In the high 40s and low 50s during the day and mid 30s at night. No snow predicted for the next week or so. We have only had flurries a couple of times so far; just mostly rain. Really hoping for at least one good snowfall during the winter.

Quiet day ahead for me. Going for a walk in a bit, then watching the Fiesta Bowl and finally over to the hospital to visit my wife. Went over last night to be there with her when the New Year came in. After over 40 years of being together for that I didn't want to break the tradition. Definitely the lousiest holiday season ever for us. But 2019 will be better

I wasn’t close to my aunt. She wasn’t nice to us kids. I’ve heard she ran a tight ship at work. She ran the kitchen at the sheriff’s department. I’ve never heard anything nice about her from anyone who worked there.
