Caught a bunch of trout, took home my limit (4). My dog rolled around in a snow bank all day. Now to the grill!

Considering what he's been through he deserves to be happy and well taken cared of.

Hey Meo! I see you got a new, less expensive place. Awesome! Still hoping you plan on doing a little traveling and can stop by here some time. We can take you to a for real, built by hand by one man castle.and you can meet my goats!

I have been reading the last few pages of this thread, and get the idea this is a "snob free-zone." Is this right?

It's a safe place just to chat and share life. Nice folks on here.

I still hope to travel some. I'm exploring options. Having this apartment will give me some leeway in the end, but moving anywhere is still costly and it will take awhile before I realize the savings. There were mover expenses, new service fees, etc.

Once I get some emergency fund savings built back up I will think about exploring parts of this great country we live in. I've re-learned how to live pretty cheaply so maybe later in the year or next spring I can travel some.

I'm up in the air about my car though. It's been a great vehicle and was comfortable driving from Minnesota to Arizona but it's so small I can't imagine sleeping in it and motels/hotels are so expensive. Plus I have a cat now who I would either have to board or take with me.

So still lots to ponder and study on.

Yesterday went up to a small mountain town a few hours south of me. Dog played in the snow all day, and we just explored. Had lunch outside at a busy small café.

So now the surgery is Friday August 2. And in the mail today I received a jury summons for Monday July 29.

I wonder if they'll excuse me and give me a later date.

Or what?

I've never done jury duty before. Don't know what to expect.

They will excuse you and won't give you a hard time about it at all. They're actually very nice when you call. Just call the number on the notice.

I got a medical excuse to get out of all jury duty. I broke my coccyx bone years ago and can't sit for long periods of time. i can lounge on the sofa quite comfortably.. but catering to my specific needs probably wouldn't go over well in the jury box. Besides, the last thing a lawyer wants is a juror who can't focus on the trial because they're uncomfortable or in pain anyway. Along with the doctors note I sent them a note of my own saying how I'd love to be a juror BUT my medical issues wouldn't allow me to give it the full attention that a trial would require.

My son went down when they called him for jury duty. He said he sat there for hours but then was sent home as they had already selected enough jurors. He got paid for his time though. I think it was $20 bucks. This is in NY.

Good luck with your surgery and I wish you a speedy recovery.
