It's Carolina Beach. One of the Wilmington area beaches.

hahahaha. Dogs are funny. As of two days ago we are allowed to take dogs on the beach here (cooler weather, tourists mostly gone). We live close enough that I can just let him out the front door and say, "GO."

He runs onto the beach and barks at the waves and then I come along after him. They really love to run on the beach and get all that energy out of them.

It's right next to where the Colonial Parkway meets the Jamestown Ferry. In fact, the first time we tried to find the beach we almost got onto the ferry by accident. The turn for the parking area and the line for the ferry are so close they could be dance partners.

I haven't learned the names yet for the various little beaches along the parkway, but some of them are gems. Here's the sunrise from a few days ago, taken from one that's sort of near where King's Creek flows into the York.

Beautiful. Love beaches that have dunes with sea grass. It was the one thing I missed when living in Manhattan Beach. California beaches are stunning, of course--especially where the bluffs get kind of craggy. Still, there's something about the sea grass that you see at the Atlantic beaches that really appeals to me.

Beautiful area - lots of water. The fun part of moving anywhere is the exploring.

Beautiful photo, Caladium. I'm partial to Atlantic coast beaches too. I guess any of us who grew up here would be. Here's one near us but there are more natural ones with just dunes and sea grass.

I know that area very well. We originally were going to retire to Williamsburg and we have vacationed there for the last 15 years. At one time we were interested in purchasing a home in Queens Lake which is right off the Colonial Parkway. Lots of fun things to do in that area. Have you visited Smithfield or explored the Northern Neck or Eastern Shore areas?

We love the ferry and can't believe if is free.
